I was going to wait and see if it will work with my preamp. If not I'll send it to you for a trial, if that's OK.

I understand a budget but it also does not make sense to spend thousands on audio gear then play it through cables that don't allow the equipment's full potential to come to life.

Jack, I used the Transparent power cords and they are good, able to benefit the gear without having a sonic signature of it's own. You should also try the interconnects/speaker cables. Their cables are well known for a nice improvement in bass, not quantity, quality.

There is a voodoo thunder PC regular $525, but now $349. Used over at the Cable company in the used section. And it's 9 gauge.

So Jack, how about a review on the 150.5 since you have had time to live with it and put it through its paces.

By the way, I am liking my X1 more. I rolled in my last of a dozen different pair of 6CG7's in my DAC. Go figure, the last pair has more of what I am looking for which is a fuller, deeper and more textured midrange with some warmth. Its not all the way there but I like it.

I'm glad you're liking the X-1 more than before. Only you would have an arsenal of tubes to go through till you got the sound you like. I've been listening to the X150.5 a lot, but not the amount of critical listening that one needs to give a fair assessment. I'm in the middle of a master bath renovation and I've been listening to XM radio with the X150.5 but I'm not in the same room as my system. In the evening, I get some free time to really listen and I've been going through my classical collection and I'm really amazed at the depth and detail that comes forth. I'll be listening to a piece and all of a sudden I'll hear an instrument that I heard before, but it's not as far back as it was previously. I've played some bad recordings and they still don't sound good. I've also played some mediocre recordings that don't sound mediocre anymore. We got 5 or 6 inches of snow today, so I got to use my new snowblower for the first time and that was exciting, but it took me out of my audio room. Time to go in and see if I can find a new gem in my collection.

Jack its funny that you should mention snow and a master bath renovation. We have had snow here and I had to pull out the snow blower. I am also getting ready to renovate the master bath after just having Brazilian Cherry wood floors installed in just about every room in the house including the stair case.

Looks like I'll be pulling out the snowblower again today. Forecast is for 3-6 inches. Normally I just leave the snowblower in the garage, but my bathroom renovation is taking up my extra space out there with vanities and shower doors and the wet saw.

Last night I listened to Prokofiev's 1st and 3rd piano concertos and they never sounded better. Then some Dvorak and Smetana and all the while watching the Cowboys get pounded by the Bears. Priceless.
