    I've had the pleasure of using a Musical Fidelity A3cr amplifier. The amp was wonderful! Clean, transparent, and very punchy. It drove my maggies with no problem. I would definitely recommend Musical Fidelity amps. The only reason I am not buying one myself is that soon I will have a brand new PS Audio multichannel amp. The new PS Audio is a super efficient "D" class amplifier, and is going to be able to deliver 500 wpc to both my sets of maggies. (3.6r's & III's ) Hopefully Paul will be able to pull it off for under 4k, but we are all waiting for pricing.

    At the 4k price point you've got a lot of choices in amps, both integrated, and separates. I would do a lot of research if I were you before you plunk your $$$ down. That being said, nearly ANYTHING you get at this price point will be fantastic, and after you get it you will never have to worry about your amp being the limiting factor in your audio system.
    Audio;
    Ming Da MC34-AB 75wpc
    PS Audio Classic 250. 500wpc into 4 ohms.
    PS Audio 4.5 preamp,
    Marantz 6170 TT Shure M97e cart.
    Arcam Alpha 9 CD.- 24 bit dCS Ring DAC.
    Magnepan 3.6r speakers Oak/black,

    There's a great place to buy used equipment. It's called AudiogoN, and you can find it at;

    http://www.audiogon.com/

    I've purchased from there before. Just be careful, it can get addictive!

    You're in Vancouver. Commercial Electronics on Burrard street - downstairs they have a big used section. Some stuff might be upstairs. Last time I was in they had amplifiers from Copland, Arcam, YBA, Cambridge Audio and Jamo, Quad and Energy speakers.

    Hi-Fi Center on Seymour street...2 doors down from Seymour A&B Sound. Last time I was there they had an Aragon and Anthem tube two channel amp and they had the Jolida 202a a More than $1000.00 Tube integrated amp for $300.00Cdn...It did have some repair issues though. Still the had several other componants used as well.

    Then there is a high end store hi-fi plus I think that is located on East Broadway across from a big London Drugs - not quite across but a few block away.

    The best place though is Soundhounds in Victoria because they have a much greater selection and a lot of used pieces. I bought my Sugden Amp for $425.00Cdn and it retailed in the mid 90s for $2000.00.

    You always take a gamble on used pieces but amplifiers very few moving parts and a 2k amp in the mid 90s like mine uuses very high quality parts - and even 10 years old would probably out last whatever you could buy new for $425.00. Hell my old store went through 2 Sony receivers in 8 months.

    As an example as to what Soundhounds carries... http://www.soundhounds.com/
