I ran into your posting, going through having (almost) same questions you are facing. It does not seem anyone answered your posting - were you able to get the answer somewhere / somehow?
I am just getting into recording, in search of pre-amp or USB audio interface. I am thinking of buying the Roalnd Quadcapture for use wuth my condenser mic pair but wondering if it can be used as stand alone pre, without being hooked up to a laptop. At this point I only use my portable digital stereo recorder and need a pre for my condenser pair I just acquired, Let me know if anyone made any suggestions about your question / decision. Thank you.
