good preamps under 1000 bucks (possibly tubed)
So i'm looking to substitute my CA 540A integrated (used as a preamp with and Adcom GFA5500 power amp) with a decent pre-amp, and i was thinking i want to try tubed.
SHOULD have a remote but its not absolutely necessary, and i'm willing to go used.
any tips, ideas? also a nice phono stage would be good.
    cheers!

    consider AVA
Van Alstine Trancendence 5 seems like a solid tube/ss hybrid design at around 800.00. I'm considering the same type if switch.

I have been very happy with my ARC SP9. Highly recommended! It is not the first ARC pre I have owned. I have always been more than happy with them. You can find them used for 1K or so. http://forums.audioreview.com/images/icons/icon6.gif

Hi Fi World magazine really rates the Ming Da tube preamp and it seems a real bargain.
