Technics SL-1710mk2 value?

so I have a mint condition Technics SL-1710mk2 direct drive turntable like new in box w/ paperwork that I am looking to sell to fund home improvements. anyone have any idea how much this thing's worth?

i hear these old things can be worth a lot of money, but I'm thinking that it may not be quite worth the $2,000.00 my dad is hoping for...

Sorry to burst your bubble, but your turntable is likely worth little more than about $150. The SL-1200, a superior model and a long-time favorite of DJ's, now no longer made, often sold for between $400 and $600 when new. I would guess the only home improvement you could expect from the sale of your SL-1710MK2 would be a new faucet. You could probably start out at $200, and see where the bidding goes.
