    Silverface CD Player??

    For those who have seen my recent threads I have kind of got into to putting together a somewhat vintage 2-channel set-up. At the moment I am going with the following;

    Kenwood KR-3600 (1977)
    Pioneer TX-5500 II Tuner (1977)
    Dual 1019 TT (1968)
    RTR Series IV ( 1983)

    Not high end stuff I know but all together it has cost me a whopping $14.

    I will send a photo when I get a chance. Most of the equipment is silver faced so is anyone out there aware of a decent older silver faced CD player? I know for most a CD player probably fits into their idea of vintage like an electric guitar into a Blue-Grass band but hey I don't always want to get up and flip a record.....

    BTW- I am waiting to get the model number but it looks like I may have picked up a 800 series Onkyo reciever for free. Not sure if it is an 870/890 which from what I have read could be a sweet unit.

    Some nice scores on the equipment, Kid.

    If sound is a priority, my advice is to skip vintage on CD players. Silverface comtemporary units are available: maybe a Cambridge Azur 540C.

    Great advice by Feanor.

    CDP is about the only gear you do not wanna go vintage, unless you love the sound of a particular unit.

    Nothing is sweeter than acquiring great gears with your penny jar, but you'll really need to cough up at least a couple of bills on Audiogon.

    You can usually find a SONY DVP-9000 or 9100ES in silver for around $300 on audiogon, once a week.
