    The Fuse Fad

Hi, I have a Sansui 9090 DB, a Sansui AU 777and B&W DM 5 speakers. The AU 777 was the first solid state amp made,in '68 and the other two were about '78. I have seen the ads lately for gold fuses at $20 apiece. Too cheap for that, but would it make sense to get new fuses in this old equipment? Is there some in between fuse that is better than average, but not $20? Is this just a new way to throw money away? All my equipment seems to work fine.

    Question Sterephile strikes again

This month's Stereophile has about a page on the wonders of fuses at $40 a pop. Is there an inbetween , or is it all nonsense?

    silver fuses and contact treatment

Don't know if there is an in between. Don't think so at this time. I know of a source for these that's $60 a pair. A guy that I provide a modification for the Acoustic Zen Adagios that he sells by appointment swears by both the fuses and contact treatment. I think that I will be trying these just don't know when. Whatever happened to Sansui? Use to own one of their tuners but traded it away.
