    Marantz question

    Hi all
    I have a Marantz 2325
I also have a Marantz 510 amp (given to me)

Does the amp enhance the receiver power or does it drive speakers?

Please give me a little direction on this if you can.

    Thanks
    chas

The Marantz 2325 is a very fine vintage receiver that has its own, built-in power stereo amplifier. BTW, the 2325 are highly sought after as vintage classics and worth >$1000 if in good condition.

The Marantz 510 is a fine vintage power amp which drivers speakers directly but requires an up-stream preamp to control volume, etc. The Marantz 2325 had "Pre Out" connections on the rear that would permit the 510 to be used instead of the formers built-in amp, if you wanted to take advantage of 510's somewhat higher power. 510's in good shape also so go north of a grand.

I don't have a lot much to suggest. classicaudio.com has a For Sale section that often included vintage Marantz item. And you can ask around at the Audiokarma.org site where there is a lot of discussion of vintage components. Hifishark.com seems to be a sort of "meta" search site for used/vintage hifi stuff for sale. ... Or you could just Google Marantz 3250B or 3650 For Sale
