    Talking Hunting for 70s gear!!!!

    Hello Everybody!

I am working to put together a collection of sound/audio gear as well as some camera/film gear from roughly the mid 1970s time period and I am wondering if anyone on this forum might have some direction on where I could find these. This is for a display that I am contributing to and factually the items don’t necessary have to work since they will be for display purposes. I have been searching Ebay and the general internet and have found some of the items that I am looking for but I still have much to find!

Does anyone have any tips or direction as to how I could go about finding these or who might have one or two that he would be willing to sell – even if they are non-operational items but that still have decent appearance? On the microphones, they could factually be empty inside but I need the original housings for these. Any help or direction on this would be very much appreciated!

    Sound gear:

    Baldwin Synthasound synthesizer
    Soundcraft 200 mixboard
    Sony PS-X55 record player
Teac reel to reel tape recorder
Nakamichi 1000 ZXL computing cassette decks (I want 4 of them!)
Sequerra Pyramid Metronome speakers (Pyramid Met 2 Plus 2W plus the T 1 ribbon tweeters)
Sony TC-55 cassette recorder (need 2 of them)
Stephens reel to reel 12 channel recording machine
    Neve 12 channel mix board
    Nackamichi tape recorder
    Sony C 500 microphone
    Neumann M49B microphone
    Neumann U47 microphone
    Sony C 37 microphone
    Neumann U67 microphone
    Neumann KM84 microphone
    Neumann U87 microphone
    Neumann KM56 microphone
    Sennheiser e602
    AKG D 224 microphone
    AKG C 24 microphone
    Electro-Voice Cardiline Model 642 microphone
    AKG C 12 microphone

The following is the photography/film/editing items in case anyone here has any ideas on these:

    Spectra Tri Color light meter
    Acmade film editing unit
Sony VO 1600 VCR (I need 2 of them!)
Palmer Sixteen Double Band Interlock film projector
    JVC camera SC-40544-003
    JVC portable VCR CR-4400U
    JVC power adaptor AA-P44U
    Mamiya RB67 ProS camera
Mamiya crosshair viewfinder (2 of them) for an RB67 ProS camera
Bag for RB 67 ProS camera

Thanks again for any help that you can give on my search!

A pretty eclectic list you have there.

I am assuming you have been hunting the thrifts and Craigslist in your area but if not that would be the first place to start. Since so much of the items on the list are microphones do you think contacting a local ham radio club might be a possible source for microphones.

    Welcome to AR.

The best place I know of to find Nakamichi tape decks and reel to reel decks is Audiogon. The same goes for Sequerra speakers and tuners.

With so many options from the 70's how in the world did you come up with these? I have lot's of gear from that era but only my entry level Nakamichi tape deck makes your list. Want it for $30 plus shipping?

Thanks for the welcoming and thanks for the tips, guys.

I have been searching Ebay and Craigslist, but not thrifts yet - that's a good idea.

Poultrygeist, is your Nakamichi a 1000 ZXL? I would of course be interested in that, but I doubt you are selling that one for $30.

I am in Los Angeles. Any ideas on places here or near here that I should check out????

Hope all are having a great weekend!

Ooops - forgot to say thanks for the tip on the ham radio club and Audigon!

I'll check both of those out!
