    Dual 500

Hey guys, it's been a while - a few years actually.

Site has dumped it's history/legacy - too bad. Lots of good stuff lost.

Well, I scored a piece that I have wanted in my inventory for some 30 years.

Went trolling on eBay last week and there were two Phase Linear Dual 500's and a Phase Linear D-500 (or vice versa) up for auction.

So, what could I do? Only one option, so I bid on one and won it.

Should arrive Tuesday 12/11. It appears to have issues in one channel. So, I'll probably check it out, drool and ogle a bit, then forward it up to Dean at Phasetek and have it gone through.

It's going into a rack that will house my 2ch system to drive a pair of JBL 2245 subs.

Quad amped system (active quad amping) system. PL Dual 500 on the bottom, a Clair Bros Audio custom PL 700 S-2 for low mids, PL 300 S-2 on the compression drivers for high mids and a Carver TFM-6CB driving the HF.

Plan it to have it up and running mid to late 2008.

    Dual 500

Nice. I remember seeing those in a retail store where I worked back in the 80s.

Are you using active crossover to split up the frequencies amongst your amps?

The amp is a restoration project and will be headed to Dean at PhaseTek soon.

    Active crossover? Yes, Ashly XR4000.

    Some pics:

The Ashly processing includes a compressor/limiter and PQX-572 parametric eq.
