    Yamaha NS-P436
I am just starting to build my home entertainment center. unfortunately I don't have several thousand dollars to purchase the "Dream System" but I would appreciate any input. I am going to buy the Yamaha HTR-5660 receiver and was looking for a set of speakers that would accomodate this receiver, if I had my way, I would buy a nice Klipsch setup. But alas the money isn't there. I am looking in the $300 range give or take a few dollars. I have come across the Yamaha set NS-P436. These speakers seem very good, but I have never heard them, the stereo shops don't carry these speakers.

Could anyone tell me if these are a good set of speakers, I have searched for reviews (in-depth reviews) and I keep coming up short. I appreciate any input. Thanks

Yamaha typically does not make good speakers. For electronics they are a very reputable company but I would avoid their speakers.

If you are looking for something relatively inexpensive look at the HSU Ventriloquist for $311 delivered. The downside is it doesn't have a sub.

The following system includes a sub:
    Fluance AV-HTB - $199.99 delivered
    Sony SA-WM20 - $99.99 delivered

The downside of that system is you will want to upgrade it fairly soon. Ideally you would take your time in building a system, even if you only get a pair at a time. Doing it that way can save you several hundred dollars. Some of the better subs go for $400 on up but are well worth the expense. Additionally, look at used gear for you may find something that is a tremendous value.

Thanks for the input Bryan. I went and checked the Fluance website, and was impressed with the system. That doesn't seem like a system like that would cost $200. I noticed that Fluance also has a model that is above the AV-HTB, it is the SX-HTB. Have you heard this system? If so is it any better than the other. The site said it has better drivers and that it was made for higer fidelity sound. Is it that much of a difference. If so I would rather buy them for the $259.99 Also, would I need a subwoofer with these speakers (not saying that I don't want one) or does the tower speakers produce sufficient bass? Once again thanks for the input. :)
