    SMGA Maggies, which amp?

    I currently have 2 amplifiers.
    - Belles Two
    - McIntosh MC2505

My C36 preamplifier is capable of running 2 amplifiers. I like the way my old Klipsch sound with Jazz, Chicago, Tower of Power, BST, etc... I prefer the Maggies with everything else. I would like to hook both up for different music. Switching the 2505 from 8ohm to 4 is a bi**h due to the microscopic speaker terminals. Would the Belles sound better powering the Maggies since the distortion ratio is lower and the WPC is higher? Would you also recommend me using my MQ-101 EQ with the Maggies? Input needed.

    Thanks in advance!

    Mac'Intosh used to

emphasize smmooothnesss because that was what their targeted customers wanted. Magnepan speakers generally do not need any spicing up and the smoother the amp the better Maggies sound. So which amp is smoother? [Tube amps will make Maggies really sing.]

EQ's and other signal benders that I had tried on my Tympani only reduced that great Maggie attack, so I would skip the EQ on the Maggies.
