What is the fascination with Harbeth?

I listened to a pair of these at a local stereo shop and was not impressed. They are the older 3 series (trade-ins). Was it the room or do these speakers always sound like they’re coming from a closet? Maybe it’s just my ears? The amp used was a 200 watt per channel Rotel. The horrid sound wasn’t from lack of power. Do any of you know why this could be? I read nothing but glowing reviews about these speakers.

Everyone has different tastes. That's why there are so many speaker manufacturers. There's nothing wrong with your hearing, they just didn't float your boat. No biggie.
