Whardefale diamond 10.0 vs Speakercraft roots 450
    Hey everyone,
I'm in the market for budget speakers that has to be small sized (height < 23.5 cm). 80% for music, 20% for HT.
I was offered these options by a local store:

    1. Wharfedale diamond 10.0
    2. speakercraft roots 450

both speakers are small, however the roots are rated 100W with freq. 52-20KHZ and the diamond 75W with freq 55-24KHZ
the roots has better design and cost 100$ more.

there are tons on reviews and info on the net on the whardefale, but not on the speakercraft
I'll be glad to hear opinions on the roots speaker, especially from someone who knows both the whardefale and the roots and can compare between them.

I can't speak for the speakercraft but check out musicdirect.com They sell wharfedales at a big discount and you could probably pick up a pair of 10.1's or 10.2's for cheaper than the 10.0. I would rather have either the 10.1 or 10.2's over both the speakers you are looking at. Also, do not pay any attention to the power ratings. And neither the 450 or the 10.0 with their 4" woofers will give you any semblance of bass.

Whoops, I did not see that you need speakers less than 23cm tall, then take a look at these below

    Monitor Audio - Bronze BX-1 - 2-Way Bookshelf Speakers-Audio Advisor

    NHT - Absolute Zero Mini-Monitor Speakers-Audio Advisor

Both will out perform the other speakers you are looking at.
