Speakers for Sansui AU-517 (or 717)
Hey guys, I am buying a 2-channel stereo integrated amp soon.

It will be the Sansui AU-517 or 717, and I am wonderign what are some good speakers that match with it.

So far I found these -
    2x these - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16882184291
    or
    2x these - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16882290013

Basically I only have $200 for the speakers (give or take $50).

I am also open to buying used off craigslist to avoid shipping

What brands / models do you suggest?

If you want to browse my craigslist look @ minneapolis/st.paul (in Minnesota)

    thanks

What's your musical preference? A nice little rockin' speaker can be found here.....

scroll to the bottom of the page for the Beta 20's. I have a set of these in the bedroom and put out a nice punchy sound.

I'm into more metallica style metal. A little disturbed, godsmack, etc...

Basically hard rock (not screaming though)

I had these hooked up to a Sansui integrated for awhile and it makes for a nice combo. They will definitely rock da crib.

    Nice pick-up. Great little amp.

I use my AU-505/TU-555 combo with a pair of Original Large Advents. Those Sansui's can produce some nice power seemingly above their stated WPC rating.

I have the Beta 20's and the Polk Monitor 40's (little brother of the Monitor 50's but same drivers). Of the 2, I prefer the Polks. The Beta 20's I bought at Comp usa for around $160 after shipping.

But those Klipsch KG 4's are a great deal( as suggested by 02 audionoob). I have the smaller version, the KG 2's. I like them better yet than the Polks or Beta's. Those KG 4's here in NY run at $350. And they can be upgraded with new caps, and a titanium diaphragms for the tweeters. The surrounds on them are rubber, not foam, so they are more durable.

I think you would get more bang for your buck if you bought used. CL is a good way to go. Newer isn't always better.
