Speakers for basement workout area

I'm looking for a pair of bookshelf or satellite speakers for my basement workout area. Budget is around $100 or less. Would like them to be wall mountable, but could make shelves for them if need be.

Currently considering:

Infinity Primus P143
JBL Control 2 way 4 inch
Polk Monitor 30 or TSi 100

Any others I should take a look at?

I recently got a pair of Polk M30 Series II in cherry from New Egg fro about $90. They may only have them in black now but they have the 40s for not too much more.

I was surprised at how good they sounded thru my main rig as well as in my gym via DVD player to Hafler amp.

They are wall mountable with rubber footies to hold them off the wall when hanging from bracket. They are rear ported tho so close to the wall gives bass.

Seems to me that if you want good speakers for a basement workout, you should pick something HEFTIER.......................

Might want to get something front-ported to better take the wall out of the sound equation. This way, whether you wall-mount or put them on a bookshelf (never a good idea...it confuses the bass pixies), the bass should be cleaner, with less bloat. Monitor Audio has several lines that would fit the bill.

anything with a 4" driver will sound weak and anemic unless you use a sub.

Increase your budget a little and get the Primus 162's

They are highly regarded for a budget speaker and would be perfect for your application. And if you are handy and don't mind opening up the cabinet, you can add extra dampening material and improve the sound quality for just a few dollars.

Thanks for the recommendations. I should have noted that the workout area of the basement is pretty small. My basement is "L" shaped, and I workout in the bottom of the "L" so I really dont need anything loud or bass thumping. My ears ring enough from concerts as it is
