Speaker Wire? Electrician's wire or replace?

    Hi folks, first post.

I'm having my basement refinished. The electrician has run my speaker wires. He used std 16 gage shielded/wrapped electrical wire as speaker wire.

Is that OK? Should I replace it with something like monster cable before the dry wall goes on?

I've had some friends say... std wire is just fine. I've had others say... go with known good speaker wires.

    Please help!

    Greg

Yeah it's fine. I probably would have went with 14 gauge for surround, but 16 should be fine. And no don't replace it, it really isn't worth it, I doubt you would notice a difference.
