    Speaker surround replacement problem.

    Hello.
I have a pair of vintage Advent Loudspeakers..

You may be able to see that the woofer surrounds are pretty.. well.. gone..

I want to replace them, but you see that big wooden ring? For some reason, its glued onto the metal casing of the speaker, so that the speaker surround doesnt have to go so far. Well, to replace the surround, I need to glue the new one to the bottom of that ring..

does anyone know how to remove this, or if I should just try and do it with the ring still on?

    Thank you!
