    Speaker suggestions?
I'm looking for some sub $400 book shelf speakers for my bedroom 17x17 with cathedral ceilings for occasional listening. I'm looking at the PSB Image25's for about $360, the Wharfedale Diamond 9.2's and the budget Infinity Beta 20's. I'd like to get the NHT Classic Two's but they are more than I want to spend for very casual listening. I don't no much about the PSB Image 25's they are probably #1 on my list. Can any one tell me how they compare to the Wharfedale 9.2's. I dont want a bright sounding speaker. I prefer warmth with detail and a decent tweeter.

    Thanks!

IMO, a room 17' x 17' with a cathedral ceiling is fairly large and challenging. A pair of bookshelves such as a the PSB Image 25's are a good choice (6.5" cone woofer drivers, 91dB, 6 ohms) but you'll need a powerful subwoofer to get you the bass ext and overall balance you'll need. The PSB Image 25's list presently for $479.00/pr. Have you found a pair preowned?

    You will need a sub.

www.audiophileliquidator.net has great prices on PSB's including the Synchrony's. They have the Image-25's for $369 a pair. I'd like to pull the trigger on the PSB's but I don't like buying speakers with out auditioning them first. Especailly since all deals are final with audiophileliquidator.

As far as the room size goes, I'm not going to use a sub. This is just for some very casual listening.

Need more suggestions for inexpensive bookshelf speakers!

What do you guys think about the Monitor Audio B2 speakers? I'm still looking for a bookshelf for the bedroom under $350. I really like the NHT classic 2's and 3's but they are both over $475. I prefer a warmer sound. I was considering the PSB Image 25's but read they are a bright sounding speaker. I've found a pair of Monitor Audio B2's on sale for $279 and from what I've read they have a warmer sound with punchier bass then the PSB's. I've also considered the infinity beta 20's, Mordaunt short Avant 902I, Wharfedale diamond 9.2,Triangle Comete 202's, Quad L11's and L12's. which I found on audiogon used at a good price. I'm still looking for a pair of used NHT's.
    Thanks,
    Larry, finally defrosting in Minnesota.

You want to read that thread before you do business with Audiophile Liquidator.

I bought my marantz 8001 cdp from them without problems. My friend recently bought the PSB synchrony ones from them with out any problems. I dont doubt that they could be a shady company. There are several discount web sites with the same page format and products under different names. They have a no return policy except for damagesd product so you better be sure of you like what your buying.

Blackie, what's your friends opinion on the PSB synchrony ones? My local guy doesn't have a pair in yet so I haven't had a chance to hear them.

I think these might meet your needs nicely:

I have the original version and use them in a larger room than yours with good results.

LDB, I'll be going over to my friends house the middle of next week and I'll let you know about the PSB's.

GM, those speakers look very nice, I'm going to consider those. I just went to listen to the B&W 686's and 685's. The 686's seem to be suited for rear channel but the 686's sounded great but more than I'm willing to spend for speakers that will only occasionally be used.
