    amp for nautilus 803

    I want to buy an amplifier for b&w nautilus 803. I was thinking of Krell 400xi.

    What do you think?. Any other idea?

    Thanks in advance for your reply

    Great speakers. Unfortunately, you'll just have to try a bunch until you find one the creates a good synergistic match and satisfies your personal taste. Me, I'm not of fan of Krell as I find them to be a bit on the hard, analytical side, especially paired with Nauts. However, I prefer a bit sweeter, more musical approach such as the classic ARC sound.

    I understand the Nauts can present some pretty wild impedence swings so you'll want something with some gumption to it. Naturally the Krell qualifies, but you might also consider Bryston, Classe, Pass Labs, Bel Canto, and PS Audio. Tubes from ARC, BAT, or VAC might also do nicely. Again, just pick what sounds best to you.

    Hope this helps.

    But the tech reviewer almost fried the amp during warmup!

    If you've got B&W 803's then I would try several different amps, if you can, before commiting.
    Audio;
    Ming Da MC34-AB 75wpc
    PS Audio Classic 250. 500wpc into 4 ohms.
    PS Audio 4.5 preamp,
    Marantz 6170 TT Shure M97e cart.
    Arcam Alpha 9 CD.- 24 bit dCS Ring DAC.
    Magnepan 3.6r speakers Oak/black,
