REL, they make some of the best subs in the world but you will get more for your money with SVS. I'd rather go with a Velodyne SPL-in that price range or a Martin Logan Dynamo.

I would above all recommend a servo sub. If you don't mind doing the wood work, check out www.rythmikaudio.com
They even ship over-seas (at a price). I reckon these are excellent value for money, and should goes as deep as the SVS, with the musciality of the Rel.

If you like hosting parties & you like loud bass during movies, output is the name of the game. But then you also have frequency response, & subjective qualities such as musicality etc.
Do some research on the net before buying anything, and try to do some listening.

One thing to consider, the velodyne SPL-R's come with a calibration tool and a remote control.

I live with only Best Buy and Vanns for shops to listen, BB does not carry high end speakers. Vanns has Rels, so I'm sunk on the listening end!!

Go with a REL, (if thats all thats available) you wont be sorry. At around $800 you will be splitting hairs when it comes to the sound of the subs you are considering.
If you live near a best buy, take a look at the Martin Logan Dynamo Sub for $600. Its very musical with nice tight bass. It may sound better than the REL T2.

Also, if you like the sound of REL, look on audiogon for some of their higher end subs.

How do I determine if my Defenitive Tech BP2002TL's are full range with? What would be my crossover fequency? What is ment by AVR settings "large" 100db at 20Hz set to "small"? Thus does this have bearing on which sub I would buy?

Full range means they can play the deepest bass without any trouble. Those looks like some pretty big speakers, so i'd say set them to 'large' on your AVR, and if you have a subwoofer, turn the low pass filter knob on it to about 40Hz.

20Hz at 100dB mean your sub can play a 20Hz tone at 100 decibels without too much distortion (under 10% distortion). Few subs can do this.
This is a very rough guide but if you give a little more info on your setup we can probably help you more.

He has a Def Tech BP2002 with built-in powered 12" subs folks. He needs a big time sub to help these out.
