Need short bookshelf

I am looking to get some bookshelf speakers.

But the wall they will go is bookshelf from floor to ceiling. The shelves are not movable and the shelves at approx. ear level have a 9 3/4-inch clearance and the shelves about a foot above ear level have an 11-inch clearance. I was looking at the Boston vrm50's but the $700 price tag is kinda high. Looking to spend in the $500 range. If anyone has a suggestion, I'm all ears.

Also, these bookshelves will be mated with a sub (possibly HSU STF-2) so extension is not a priority.
