Need help to choose good speakers for my Yamaha-610 II amplifier

I'm surprised so few of the responses have suggested actually auditioning some speakers instead of talking about them.

yozhek, you should search out every mid to high end dealer within a reasonable distance and actually audition some speakers. Otherwise, all you've got are recommendations of someone's favorite brand or particular speaker. What I like you may not and vice versa.

Buying speakers on a recommendation without auditioning them first is like letting someone else choose your mail order bride. The chances are slim to none that you'll like what you get.

I think we all just gave him some suggestions of speakers to look at in his price range.

In fact I hesitate, I think I'll upgrade the entire system.

I have a brand new set of Defini_​tive techs bp10-b. I'll let them go for 400.00 for the pair! Those would Rock well with the old Yamaha amp.....
