    Need an amp

    polk audio LS 50 speakers
I have had these speakers for years and have never really had an amp to bring out their full potential. Can anyone give me some suggestions on amps that would really work well with my speakers that won`t cost me an arm and a leg. Thanks so much.....amjaded

It depends on multiple factors. What's your budget? What are your room dimensions? Do you like it loud? What kind of music do you listen to? Here's an example or two at the economical end:

You could get even lower prices buying used equipment.

Whats your budget? Check out the 2 channel amps at www.emotiva.com

Parasound makes some nice amps starting around $600. http://www.audioadvisor.com/prodinfo.asp?number=PAC2125

    I also like the B&K reference 125.2

    http://www.bkcomp.com/products/ampli...ttproducts_pi1[backPID]=14&tx_ttproducts_pi1[product]=5&cHash=5abcbb5051

It has a nice warmer sound and can be had for about $600. You can usually find one used on www.audiogon.com It would be my pick over the NAD amps. I havent heard the emotiva amps but there are a few people on this forum that have them and love them. They are a real bargain.

For me, I'd choose B&K over NAD after I moved up in speakers.

For 2 channel I'd go with a Dayens Ampino. In the future when you upgrade the speakers you wouldn't have to upgrade the amp.

6moons gave the Dayens a outstanding review and their realization award for 2009.

Money being an object I have seen some good deals of Parasound like Blackraven has said and they make good stuff especially for the used price. I would not keep Adcom out of your mind it can be had ultra cheap used and sounds good for the money or maybe if you want a real high end amp for the money look at the Odyssey Audio Khartago. Its a killer built amp that will really give a taste of the super high end stuff at a starting price of around 800 bucks with a modified price of a tad over 1000. But if you are wanting to stay in a lower price bracket then Adcom, Parasound, Rotel, Acurus, among others could give you what you are looking for for your speakers.

    Marantz SR5008(HT)
Nu Force P8 Preamp (2 channel)
    Pass Labs X150.5(2 channel)
    Adcom 545 mk2 power amp(rear channel amp)
Spatial Audio M3 Turbo S Mains Speakers
Dayton 8" HO custom sealed subwoofer(2 channel)
    Yamaha NS-c444 center channel
    Emotiva ERD-1 surround speakers
    JBL e250p subwoofer highly modified
    Samsung 46" LED TV
OPPO BDP-83 blue ray/multi format player
    ps-audio NuWave dac (2 channel)
Dell I660 music server running fidelizer windows 8 audio optimizer
    PS Audio Quintet power center
