monitors or 2.1s

Hey,
I am about to buy speakers. Not for games, for music only. Mainly jazz. I'm going to spend under $200. These will be in a college dorm room, connected to ipod/computer.
Would you recommend audio monitors like the M audio AV 40s or computer 2.1s? I've done a lot of research on 2.1s and it seems like most of them (klipsch, logitech, harmon kardon) have major problems. I just found out about the Acoustic Energy AEGO Ms. Does anyone have experience with those? Are there any audio monitors besides the m audios worth considering? All advice appreciated. Thanks!
