    Looking for some new Speakers

Ok, so I want a 3 three way speaker with at least an 8inch woofer for around 400$ give or take ... it is for home theater, what do you guys think? Polk, Harmon Kardon, what are B&W's running for these days haha ... anyways the room is kind of big. It can be bookshelf or floorstanding ... I don't think you will find a 3 way bookshelf with an 8inch woofer but if you can great haha. Thanks in advance!!

The JBL S38 was a bookshelf speaker with an 8-inch woofer.

We are great minds, huh? Within your budget you could even afford the center speaker, too.

yea I got a velodyne for that ... the story is originally I had some really old infinity's that were my mains but when I moved I didn't want to lug them up here and one was going out, so i figured i would just get a decent set for movies cause I have JBL's and Polk's for my main listening room

Agreed, now that I have entered this thread...

Why 3-way? Have you considered a nice full range instead?

You would be better off with a matched set along the three front and center speakers. The three JBL S series speakers would cost less than the two Cerwin-Vega CLS speakers, but it seems like the CLS speakers might be good - based on what has been said in this forum. You might want to dig up some reviews on both the JBL and the Cerwin-Vega. Here's an example...

Poppa full range speaker's don't usually hit the lows and from what I have heard are usually very cheap and have bad sound quality so I would prefer at least a 3 way

I am from Portugal, and the more popular brands in decent audio stores here before I bought my Final Sound Electrostatic speakers were ( not in any particular order ):
KEF ( the IQ series were my favorites for a while ), Mordaunt Short Avant series, B&W Bowers & Wilkins nautilus series, JBL ES series,Monitor Audio BRONZE series, Infinity Betas, Jamo, Epos AND then for those with deeper pockets: Sonus Faber, Quad, Dali, Focal JM Labs and for the exotic speaker fans Martin Logans, Magnepans, etc....

With your budget you'll probably get a better sounding and better quality 2-way.

The Yamaha NS-6490 has a 8" woofer 4" mid range 7/8" tweeter they list for $150.00 you can get them for about $100.00. I had them as surounds for 2 years with Paradigm Studio 40s V4 as my fronts they worked well togeather. great speaker for the price.
