    Latest Score...

Well, Salvation Army for $20, Paradigm Model 7se. What a score! They sound amazing. Bought them strictly on the name, never heard of the 7se before. They're hooked into the comp system right now. Golden Tube, stand by, here comes Paradigm...

$20.00..that might be the all time speaker bargain.

I don't ever recall seeing such a large bookshelf like that....or is it a small floor stander? Either way, great pick up.

Good question. Kind of like a Dynaco, technically a bookshelf I would think. Really heavy too...

They were made in the late 80's. 1988 was the last production year before they began the MK series. I can't believe these are that old. They don't look it and most certainly don't sound it. I think they'll be destined for my H/T.

No, the Avants are gone and now the Polk's will be going. We may be setting up a second H/T room, so I'm in no rush to diminish my stock. Plus, Jehovah's wrath is soon upon us, we will need speakers for paradise.

Why would you need a second HT room?
I forget which Polks you had.

We have an upstairs living room, and a huge basement, which is currently where I reside. A friend of ours may give us a large screen TV, which will jump off a second H/T room, in the basement.

Why you ask? Dude, get married and have kids and then you'll see the benefit. It's alot easier to watch people getting their heads chopped off with no kids or wife around. They can watch Disney in another room...

Awesom score for $20. That's what I keep telling people - why spend $300 on some new speaker when you can get something probably better than anything on the market selling at under $500 for $20-$60. I picked up those little Tannoy 650's for $60 and they're better than speakers I have paid $300 for - and probably as good as B&W 600 series standmounts.

Indeed, some of the older series speakers are better than their new models - I still say the best Paradigm Studio line was their version 2 - the version 3 was pretty bad IMO. The version 4 was out and then I blinked and now there is a version 5 - wait a few months and the V6 will be out and I'll be wondering about the gas mileage.

Incredibly the Model 7's kept up wonderfully to my Angstrom Modular Three's. They did well enough that I decided to put them into my H/T as fronts for a change. I put the receiver into 2-channel mode, slipped a Gypsy Kings CD into my PS2, and wow...

The PS2 is connected digitally to the amp, which is outputting 2.1. Really nice sound, the Paradigms sounded great through the enitire recording, which has every end of the spectrum to offer.

Solid and wonderfully built speaker, easily worth $60 - $100.

I'm married, have kids, a foo foo dog, and a big basement, and a second home theater down there where I too reside as much as humanly possibe, and yes poppaC is correct...you can watch all the good stuff you want without wife, kids or dog spoiling it for you.

Different people in the household watch different things. I have three HT setups for this reason.

In my house, it's the wife who needed the HT room. The mancave setup is 2-channel only with a TV that's only 26-inch. By the way...if you ever feel like picking up a low-end small LCD HDTV, let me tell you: You get what you pay for. Mine makes NFL teams look like Powder Puff Girls.

I'm sure some guys might see that as an unlisted feature. While drinking a melon beer?

Anyhow, my H/T is changing from "oh ya, and I have an H/T system"...to..."listen to this!!" I've got Marcus Miller on in 2.1 and it's remarkable. I've got my eyes peeled for SACD...

Reminds me of this past summer when my wife comes home with a pair of Polk RT55I that she picked up at a estate sale for $20. They sounded pretty good but had some cabinet issues from dampness. They are the biggest bookshelf I have ever seen, and pretty heavy too. I cleaned them up and hooked them up to a Denon receiver in my daughters room, now I am paying the price with the walls shaking . The wife always keeps an eye out for this kind of stuff and will even give me a call if she's not sure.
