It's alright, For the same price you could get an Adire Rava which IMO would be a much better choice. adireaudio.com .

I can tell you that I have owned one for over a year now and have been quite impressed, so take it for what's it worth. I would NOT pay full retail, but at $399 or so, you can't go wrong.

Is it true you have to trun the volume up to about 75 or 80% to get it "working"?

I should have mentioned in my original post that I currently have the Sony SA-WM40 Sub.

My experience with the JBL subs hasn't been the best but YMMV. This being said, the Adire Audio Rava, HSU VTF-2, or the upcoming SVS PB10-ISD are the upper league of entry level subs. All will be around $450 or so delivered.

There were some JBL subs a few years back that suffered from serious amplifier QC problems. They were to be avoided like poison. Anyone who had one of these would understandably never buy a JBL product again. (Not saying that you had one, Bryan.)

The current crop, with new amp suppliers, is a different breed, and the S120P II is an excellent performer. As I indicated in another post, it's easily obtainable for well under $400.

I'd compare the Adire, Hsu, and SVS entry subs more to the JBL Northridge E250P than to the S120P II. All three (Adire, Hsu, and SVS) are very nice subs, but my listening tests would lead me to choose the S120P II.
