Searched the web and can't find much on these little guys.
I can get 5 of them for $40 ... how do they sound? are they loud?
    Thanks in advance

Unless you need 5 matching speakers for a 5.1 surround sound system, I would skip. JBL made some budget stuff that just isn't very good. Save your money and look for something else.

The time it took you to think, write and read about these speakers should be worth more than 40$. You already spent more on them then they are worth, so you should not buy them.
Lots of music but not enough time for it all

I was a big fan of JBL when I was younger and am still a fan of some of their products but I also know that they have made some junk with their name on it that is not worth wasting time on so I agree that I would skip of them as well. I have one of JBLs subwoofers which I like the sub but I replaced the plate amp and had to brace and dampen the cabinet to get it perform at the level that was good for me but the driver that JBL put in this subwoofer is a good one so I decided to use my knowledge of speakers to make it better.

    Emotiva ERD-1 surround speakers
    JBL e250p subwoofer highly modified
