I did it! Pulled the trigger on the minis.

AV123 made me an offer I couldn't pass up so I ordered the Strata Mini - Ultra Limited Piano Rosewood Finish. They should show up Friday. I am so psyched!

ARE THEY HERE YET? I can't breath!

    Thanks.

Already in the planning stages. I like the Halo A23 but have been looking at the Emotiva RPA-1 lately. Seems to be more bang for the buck.

    Some "Mini", eh?

They look quite substantial to me! I only have the 'lil x-ls, but I have faith in this company for some reason. Aww... on the website, my blond x-ls is next to your Strata "Maxi"...lol.

But seriously, if sound within this company is proportionate with price, your speakers should be REALLY good.

Ya'll post impressions now, ya hear?

Congrats GM. Rosewood, eh? Very nice. I'm looking forward to your impressions on these. I'm betting with all the good press AV123 has gotten that we may have a new player in the "Giant Killer" department.

If I remember correctly you're not gonna have any problem with space so finding the correct positioning will just be a matter of time. I bet they sing for you.

    Peace

    Those are pretty remarkable devices:
    • Planar high and mid
    • Four way, with four and two-way crossovers
    • Self-powered, 350 watt bass
    • and looks good!
Pretty remarkable for the price. I'd love to hear them.

Send a review and pics ASAP.

Thanks, I'm glad to hear(read) that you like your x-ls's so much. Can't wait to hear how these sound. Nothing in this industry is proportionate with price, but hopefully they will be what I'm looking for.

I'll be posting pics and impressions ASAP.

sleep? what is that? whatever it is, you won't need it at Kex's party

btw, to tease you a little (and give you a next spree of upgradeitis), since you'll have the minis real soon, you're going to need a matching center and matching surrounds

    They don't make them yet.
But they are working on them. They will have the same drivers except the powered woofer.
They are in my sights. In the mean time, I have others on my short list.

    First up: A db meter.
    Second: A BFD
    Third: An external amp
Fourth: The rest of those Mini's should be available.
    Fifth: More external amps
    Sixth: A sound proccessor
    Seventh: The poor-house!
    Please send money....

With all the congradulating going on, let me be the first to Playa Hate and tell you that you stink for having better speakers than me now.

j/k Those look really nice. How did you get your wife to agree to such a big step up? Or was it easy.

Well, once upon a time, back in December of 06. I showed these to the wife as an alternative to the Maggie 1.6's that I've wanted for a couple of years. She loved them. At the time AR123 was running a sale. The Mini's, plus an integrated tube amp and bookshelf speakers all for $2k. She said that I should buy them and put the tube amp and bookshelf's in the computer room for her. (wow!) I was about to order them when she decided that we needed a washer & drier instead. See my thread "forget the mini's". I've been bugging her ever sense. Add a nice bonus from work last spring and it was getting close. About a week ago, she asked me what I wanted for my birthday. Duh! The special finish has been on sale all this month. Friday I emailed AR123 to see what the freight would be. They offered free freight. D'm them!

Oh, and thanks for being jealous. That means a lot to me.

I may be half dead after I drag them up to the second floor.

They sent me the tracking number. Should show up Friday between 2 - 5 PM.

Oh man. I feel like a kid again.
