Headphones and headphone amps - cost no object.

Hi Forumers

Please recommend some headphone amps and headphones you believe are the absolute best available.

I am compiling a list of headphone amps and headphones for review. I would like to review some cans that have not necessarily been reviewed to death.

So far I am leaning to names I knew when I did my research but I have had the HD 600s since the time they came out so I am a little out of the loop.

They have to be current models and I would consider a headphone rig (amp/cable/headphone) for $1-2k, $2-4k, $4-10k and above 10k. If the unit has a DAC function or sells a separate DAC that would also be bonus.

The headphone amp however must have a USB connection which may knock out some of the longer in the tooth names.

I currently have the Senn HD 600 and I have heard the AKG 701 and 1000 but I would prefer cans and set-ups in the Stax Omega range if you know of any.
