Focal Chorus 706V with NAD integrated amp.

I posted here earlier asking for suggestions on both speakers and a receiver/amp.

I decided to go with the Focal 706V (http://www.focal-fr.com/accueil_en.htm) speakers and a NAD 325 integrated amplifier (http://nadelectronics.com/products/h...ated-Amplifier) . I'm using a Marantz cd5001 as well.

This really is a great setup, and I'm very happy with it. I'm glad the speakers are not any bigger, they're 'big' for the space that they are in.

I also purchased the Denon 697 http://usa.denon.com/ProductDetails/3363.asp... I think the NAD sounds better. Not to mention it was nearly $300 cheaper. I wasn't sure about the Denon to begin with..

Here's a picture of the speakers: http://xs311.xs.to/xs311/07036/Picture086.jpg (webcam)
I didn't think the speakers would be this big its a 32" LCD and I figured i'd have space, but I'll need some stands.

The speakers are big for the listening area, but not too big.. works great. I'm a college student and it is my first stereo setup, I'm really pleased.

    Thanks for the advice guys.

Congratulations on a very nice first system. The Marantz CD5001 is an excellent player for the money and with NAD and Focal you should be enjoying your system for a number of years.

Isn't that the truth. I wish I'd nailed the landing on my first time out. Great first system.

You're right on track with getting stands, as well. Play around with positioning and distance from the walls. Generally speaking, the closer you get them to the walls the more bass you'll get, although at a certain point it just becomes mush. Also, keep them in front of the LCD if possible, it will help with imaging.

Strong effort and let us know how it works out.

    NAD and Focal

I've found the perfect match of amp/speaker for my small livingroom. The Focal 706V/SW700V and NAD 375BEE amp are easy on the ears even at loud volumes. Great imaging/bass reproduction. The bookshelf speakers sit atop NAD stands designed specifically for the 706's. All purchased from www.spearitsound.com. They are a great company, with fast delivery, great prices and excellent customer service.
