So we know what his setup is. If we were going to give him suggestions on some good but small speakers for his Apt, what would be good for him to look at?

    He won't listen anyway.

been there... done that... didn't work. ...and I ain't the only one that tried, either.

Perfect example that you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. ...and that holds true for either end of the horse you're trying to convince.

I was auditioning some B&W 705s at a store in Van Nuys the other weekend and they had a CM link bookshelf that was as deep as a typical bookshelf but otherwise shorter and thinnner, and I immediately thought of Ed. But they are pricey. The guy said a pair was $900. I haven't heard the atoms, but that might be a good suggestion/place to start. One problem, don't forget, is that the more revealing the speaker choice is, the more his 60s era CDs will sound like crap. That was one objection he voiced about my 601s although he was impressed with home-theater sound of my setup.

Is his sub like a normal sub or is it made especially for the orbs? He might be able to keep that and only get new speakers. I like the idea of the atoms but I am sure the other suggestions are good as well.

I'd just go with the Atoms, great sound, small size, and they sound VERY full and a lot bigger...but don't buy the titans

I was thinking that that Yamaha YSP1 might be the ticket.

Systems by these two companies would do the trick. But as we all know. Ed refuses to look at anything other than his little Orb's. But who knows.

He said he might go check out that Yamaha. Hey i was wondering if indeed he just wants to keep the orbs,do you think a newer receiver with an EQ would help the orbs some?
