In Ceiling speaker layout - sounds O.K. ???
    Greetings !

I have my walls/ceilings down to the rafters and need help ...! looking to "do" a 7.1 setup but also have good/great music listing capabilities

I have in the box (bought when The Wiz went out of business) 2x Niles PR6 and 2x HD6. I was thinking of using them for center L/R and rear L/R and possibly getting a set of the Boston Accustics VRi595's for the front L/R ... all stuffed up into the rafters

Room size is about 12' deep x14' wide and I really dont have a good wall layout ... fireplace directly in front, stairs left of fireplace, hallway right of fireplace, main beam along left dividing line and bay window on right .... so Im kind of limitied.
Any advice you can give is greatly appreciated

    Thanks
    Alan

You don't have room for bookshelf/or floor standing speakers?
The VRi595's are pretty expensive for in ceiling speakers.
$800 ea. You would also need a center VRi595 for a total
of 3 accros the front. I'd be a little leary about in ceiling speakers
for L/R/C speakers, but if you don't have the room for
floor standing or bookshelf speakers then that's you only option
    I guess.

What kind of TV do you have? If it's an LCD or Plasma, then mounting
it above the fire place above the mantle would be an option.
Then I would suggest a recliner couch to sit on when watching.

Guess I need more info or a sketch of the room would be helpful.
BTW Niles makes very good in wall speakers, seem like you got
a very good deal on them....vardo

Well ... I threw caution to the wind and "impulse-bought"

Harvey Audio in Manhatten is closing their midtown location and had 3 take-outs - installed less than 2 months ago. Yesterday I was quoted $400/ea and thats when I posted considering a pair and using a Niles Center (on the mantle) that I also have.

    Today I returned and they made me a deal I couldn't refuse - all 3 VRi595's for $500 !! :cornut:

... I couldn't resist. I'll take pictures of the install as it progresses and post how the sound quality is with everything stuffed up in the rafters
