Spendor S3/5 SE

I've just purchased a pair of these speakers and I've heard from lots of sources that even though they are a small bookshelf monitors, they need ALOT of power to drive them well. This is painfully obvious with my crappy arcam alpha7.
Any help or recomendations would be greatly appreciated. (i'm looking to by ex dem or used so older model recomendations would be good aswell).
Budget - £500 ($900) s hand ex dem.
- source suggestions would be of interest aswell.

Integrated solid state- Audio refinement Complete. Not lots of power but a great match.

Solid state amp- Parasound Halo A23. Great match with ss or tube pre.

Tube amp- rarely a good match with these. Transients just don't come through well.
