budget speakers for heavy drone doom records??

Im putting together a (hopefully) higher end turntable setup on a budget

Records ill be playing are heavier drone doom records mostly, but also
my dads YMO, Beatles and various other 60s era psychedelic projects.

My setup so far is a vintage table i'm replacing with a Pro-Ject Debut III
and a Bellari VP530 phono preamp.

So for under 500 i need a good recommendation on a speaker set up and
something to drive them wtih that will work well with vinyl and the preamp
    i already have. thanks!

Thats a tight budget for speakers and amp but here goes-

    These Energy Speakers http://www.audioadvisor.com/prodinfo.asp?number=ENC300#

For amp or receiver I would look at some of these-

    http://www.audioadvisor.com/prodinfo.asp?number=CA340A

    http://www.spearitsound.com/nad/T744.asp

spearit sound also has a used Pioneer Elite vsx-36tx receiver for $329 that was $1500 new.

And I think that this Harman Kardon receiver is a great buy and has a warmer sound with plenty of power and preamp outs if you ever want to use it as a preamp and then buy a separate amp. It also has bass management. I like the fact that it has plenty of high current power (30 peak amps) and it will have better dynamics if you like to play it loud or have inefficient speakers. It would be my first choice out of the ones I listed but others may disagree.

Here's its little brother with a little less power but same features for $219

The Fluance are garbage. The Energys will blow them a way. The energy's are cheap because they are close outs and are a real bargain at that price. Energy and Mirage are the same company. They are Canadian and make respectable gear. I seriously doubt that you could do better at that price point. You would be getting a pair of speakers that normally sells for over $500pr for $260pr. Audio Advisor has a 30day money back guarantee so you have nothing to lose. Just look up the reviews on the Energy C-300's.

I would pair these with one of those HK receivers and you will have a very nice system.

Here's a good review on a Harman Kardon 3470 which is an earlier model that got a good review.
