Probably VERY easy speaker question :)

    Heres my situation,
Im looking at buying these speakers for use with my laptop at home (because they're cheap, and not too bad quality).

Basically, my laptop has only a 3.5mm output, and this means that some speakers would not be used on the system (due to the 5.1-ness), right?

But they (the speakers) have a matrix option, which makes it so that you can use a basic 2 channel output and it would play through all the speakers, right? (correct me if im wrong, lol).

So is this to say, if i bought a stereo RCA audio cable to connect to the speakers, i could play music through my laptop/ipod with only 2 channel sound, and all the speakers would be functioning?

Haha, this is a very messed up post. Not very well thought out.
    Cheers

If you're mostly going to listen to music, I would go with the Z-2300. Same price, better sound...

To answer your question, if the Z-650 has a Dolby Pro Logic mode, then yes it can simulate surround from a stereo source. I don't recommend this for music playing. For movies, why not...

I got a Z-2300 taking up space I'll sell cheap. It sounds better than any PC speaker set I've heard.

Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 is another good budget choice.
