    Best speakers for music listening

Hello. I came here in hopes of getting in contact with someone that has a great understanding of the technology and function of speakers.

I am saving up to buy speakers for listening to music in my house. I have always used the 6 speaker setup that comes with the new dvd players you see at walmart. I have been more and more dissatisfied with these as time passes.

I would like to invest in a speaker setup that will provide the cleanest/crispest listening of music from my computer/ mp3 player. I like either buying albums, or listening to them on websites that provide original quality, for that reason. I would like for my setup to be able to provide the best listening experience possible. I would like the loudest possible setup for indoor listening, as well.

I have been doing some reading on flat frequency studio monitors and 2.1 speaker setups. It seems that studio monitors are my best bet because of the punch they can pack and the clarity they provide.

    Any thoughts?
any help/insight at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot!

Get a high end sound card with a digital optical/coax out and an external DAC (or you can buy a USB DAC) run this into a receiver and buy some home audio speakers. Depending upon the speakers you buy, you may not need a sub. A DAC is a digital to analog converter.

or you can skip the DAC and just buy a Home Theater receiver and use its inboard DAC. This would be the cheapest way to go but not necessarily the best sounding.

Whats your Budget so we can make recommendations?
