    Bass problems?

    Hello,

I am trying to repair a friends PA Speaker for him. He said that the bass was cutting in and out and having problems. It also has a horn which works fine. He said it could be a wiring problem. I checked all the wiring and fuses and it looks good. Did a 9v test on the speaker and it responded. But, I noticed that the speaker looked funny to me. I am not very experienced in speakers, but it looks like the speaker has been cut all the around the line going in. It seems like that would make a pretty big problem in the bass response. Is this normal or not normal? Please see attached images. Thanks in advance.
