    The Avantgarde Acoustic Basshorn

Just in case anyone has deep enough pockets for high-end horn speakers, and is interested in a pair of AVANTGARDE Trio Omega's.
The American site is no longer distributing products from Avantgarde Acoustic GMBH and they are blowing them out at 60% off.
They have a used pair listed on their clearance page at $16,970USD's....
That's still to rich for me!!!!!!!!

THEY LOOK LIKE THIS [the ones in the middle] http://www.avantgarde-usa.com/basshorns.html

Even if I had the money for them I still wouldn't buy them, finding space would become another issue. And their is still a lot to be said for cosmetics and size. I personally don't want any speakers that would pull my eye away from the Tv while watchng Nightmare before christmas, or Rudolph.

Although it would make one heck of a conversation peice. And could get the party started in no time.
that makes as much sense as a drunken mongoose playing the piano

Well, If you [or myself] had that kind of money,,,,,,,,We would probably have the space as well...
    And the yacht....
    And the Lamborghini.....
And the girls would make dam sure we wouldn't have time for TV

    I've never seen those speakers...
Back in 2001 when I fairly active on audio forums there was a moderator for one of the sites who saw them a trade show...
He was blown away with the sound and the looks...
I wonder if he bought them like he claimed he would

ya thats true... with that kind of cash i would definately have the room... but i would probably splurge on either the Sonus Faber Stradivari Homage or the sexy swirl of the B&WNautalus they are both up in the 40 grand plus a pair range.

maybe but just think of the power that you would need to run those things. the speakers would be the cheap part.

    .
According to the web site each one of those modules has a built in 350 watt amplifier.
    That's 6modules X 350 = 2100 watts...

Now I'm no expert: But I always thought that concept of a horn type enclosure over a conventional enclosure was for it's amazing efficiency of the horn design.
The manufacturer rates those horns at 110 db.

I was given this example to follow by another.
Think of the tuba player in a marching band.
He gets heard on a football field when he only expends 3/4 of a watt of energy..

    Is all that power necessary????????
    HAVE I GOT IT WRONG?????
