I'm looking for soem decent 8" woofer to replace the ones in some Utah AS-2 speaker cabs. I would like something decent, but nothing to costly. Maybe 40 bucks a peice. Any suggestions?

    Thanks, jjp

I'd suggest the GRS 8" full ranger from PE. It's a clone of the famous Pioneer BoFu, which is no longer made and a favorite of N. Pass. Check your opening to see if it's a drop in.

I like this one and I'm making my own mounting holes so it will fit perfect. Nice price too.

    jj,

I'd measure your cut out diameter which for a GRS drop in would be over 7 1/4"

    jjp,

Did you get the GRS full rangers? If so how do they sound?

I ended up putting in a pair of yamaha 8" woofers. I took them out of my pair of NS-636. I made a whole new front panel. I really like they way they sound. Matched with a pair of Realistic horn tweeters.

I went this route because I picked up another pair of NS-836 for 15 bucks with stands. So now my surround system has 4 NS-836, which really like, I think the NS-836 are unrated with the right stands and placement they are really good for home theater.

My 2 channel system now consist with the Pioneer HPM 100s and the Utahs in the far corners for fill. They will probably make there way outside during backyard theater nights.
