A Good DVD Movie with Great Surround Sound

After recommending turkey's with great sound like "Blade 2", anyone wanting to test out their system on a very good movie should try "The Bounty" starring Mel Gibson on DVD. This movie is not a current one (I rented it through Netflix) but the surround sound is awesome & as I said the movie was very good as well.

Go buy the movie Hero. Maggie Cheung is gorgeous, Zhang Ziyi is cute and pissed off at times, and Jet Li unleashes fury.

The sound? Absolutely will rock your room. The movie? Excellent!

IMO "Hero" is actually better suited as a reference disc for color

the drum scene in "House of Flying Daggers" had pretty good surround, lots of movement. Also lots of Zhang Ziyi in this one as well. Maggie Cheung was like a foot away from me at the Hawaii International Film Festival.

    Daredevil

Try Daredevil in DTS, when the kid gets up from the Chemical accident in a hospital and finds his hearing enhanced. He can listen almost everything in a distance and how sound effects move from channel to channel. That particular part is probably one of the best for surround effect. The sound does not stay in one place but litterally moves from channel to channel.

to test your system from top to bottom use U571 from the depth charges rocking your bass and the soft sounds of water dripping from the pipes and the dive bells making you feel like you need to move to the forward compartment to help the sub dive faster. Its a good movie and will give your system a workout.

If you're looking for good sound, why not look into movies that have won awards for best sound? In that case, pop Black Hawk Down into your player and sit back, and enjoy.

The mix on "Collateral" is awesome. From the city sounds to the r&b playing on the taxi's stereo to Tom Cruise's cannon-like pistol fire. Dialogue is crisp as well. The DTS is really smooth.
