Dvd W/sacd Or Cd W/sacd?

I would like to try out SACD listening but need a new DVD player, and was wondering if I would lose any sound or performance if I went with a DVD player with SACD playability versus a CD player that is SACD capable? And if you have any general comments about SACD v. plain old CD. Is it worth it, etc...?

I was listening to the Philips 963A (or whatever its nomenclature is), which is a DVD/CD/SACD player, and it sounds fine. But otherwise, usually the theory is that DVD messes things up (more complicated operating system, higher jitter, etc.).
