question about a possible setup

I'm looking at starting to put together a HT system and I don't have a very large budget to go out and buy the best equipment. A possible setup i was looking at were JBL e80's, e35c, e20's, and e250p, with a pioneer vsx914 for the reciever and possibly pioneer dv578 as the dvd player. The setup comes to just under $1400. I'm not opposed to spending a more to get better equipment, but for the time being until I'm out of college this setup seems pretty good for the price. Will this setup perform well, and also are there any other possible setups to check out. The system will be used mainly for movies. Thanks.

What size room will this be in? Without knowing, perhaps the following will work for you:

Rocket ELT - $999 plus shipping
Kenwood 7100 - $99 plus shipping
Additional ELT LCR - $100 plus shipping

Leaving you with $100 or so for a dvd player.

The room right now is about 12x14, but I'm graduating college within the year and plan on moving out soon after. I'm looking more in the future since I plan on keeping the system for a few years.

In that case, the aforementioned system should work well for you. You may wish to upgrade the sub later on. Another option would be to get a pair of speakers and a receiver and add components later on. Wouldn't discount used gear either as there are some excellent bargains available.
