    Now that's a hamburger!

I know this is off-topic in a big way, but I thought you guys would get a kick out of this, and it's absolutely true. Check out the picture at the end. Amazing.

    Where's the beef?

It's at a Pennsylvania pub that serves the worlds
biggest burger - weighing in at NINE lip-smacking pounds!

    That's no whopper -
you can actually get this meat monster for $23.95, loadwith all the
    "fixins"...

    Two whole tomatoes
    A half-head of lettuce
    12 slices of American cheese
    A full cup of peppers
    Two entire onions
Plus, a river of mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard.
Denny's Beer Barrel Pub is famous for its 6 lb. burgers.
National and local newspapers have reviewed the burger
and its main appeal seems to be... NO ONE HAS FINISHED IT!!

Hoochers! Funny how we can down a 5-gallon tub of beer but can't finish off a little 6-pound slab of cow flesh, eh? Hehehe, I'm not much of a beefeater and probably haven't eaten 6 pounds in the last 6 years, but that's a big damn froggin burger! I wonder if it would even fit inside a "normal" stomach? How bout those goofs that eat about 50 hotdogs at the fair just to win a ribbon? Ouch!

    It's excessive and wasteful.

For $24 bucks does it at least come with fries?

And how drunk do you have to be to spend $24 on a burger?

I'm with Darren. What a waste.

I would give it a shot, just to see if I could finish it. Tales of my huge appetite are legion within my family. ; ) And if I couldn't, I could bag the leftovers and space it out over a few days.

Wouldn't do it more than once though. Like Darren said, it's a waste.

Too bad you can't order a 64 oz soda to wash it down. (I know that this isn't a law in PA yet, but it had to be said)

Looking back on it, I think I remember that you're something of a foodie so i shouldn't be surprised that you immediately recognized the infamous truffle burger.

I'm pretty sure the bottle of 95 Petrus will work it's magic to avoid the heart problems. Red wine does that...at least that's what JM told me.

Wonder what kind of beef the owner uses

I bet this is more of a publicity stunt than anything else as owner probably loses money on each 9 pound hamburger he sell for $24 as quality ground beef cost about $3 a pound ($27). That is not including all the toppings including a large bun and cost of labor.

My friend is going to Vegas in August for the Star Trek Convention and while he is there, he wants to stop at the Heart Attack Grill and try one of the burgers. I don't think he'll go crazy and get the Quadruple Bypass Burger (2 lbs). He just wants to check it out.

I was hungry, it seemed topical...and I guessed that there wouldn't be a storm of activity if I started a thread about Mussorgsky...

I would love a thread about Modest. I have several different orchestrations of "Pictures At An Exhibition" since he never orchestrated the work. I also like Evgeny Kissin's solo piano version.

It would obviously get more response than a Guided By Voices thread. Same with the burger thread, everybody loves a good burger and some good Mussorgsky.

Yea, I think he was a regular. Was being the operative word. My buddy is no lightweight either, that's why I told him to not get carried away. Or he might get "carried away".
