If you like Michael Landau, Clapton, John Meyer...

...you may like Blake Mills. He's played guitar with Lucinda Williams, Band of Horses, Neil Diamond, Conor Oberst and produced discs for Jesca Hoop, Sarah Watkins and Billy Gibbons.

It's pretty mellow stuff (with some orchestral arrangements), but he's got some stellar musicians on his latest disc Heigh Ho,; Keltner on drums, Don Was, Benmont Tench, and Fiona Apple duets on a tune (Don't Tell Our Friends About Me), and your stereo may like this recording (he says people are compressing everything to make it louder, it's "fast food music").

The new Uncut mag gives Heigh Ho 9 outta 10. Great Sunday a.m. listening. Check him out on YouTube, tell him I sent ya.

    Wow, glad I mentioned it!

I hated the title, but didn't know who else to compare the guy to.

    OOOOOO....Fiona

I like John Meyer when he shuts up and plays guitar, which he can do very well when he wants to. Not sure how he compares to Landau tho.

    I'll give Blake a listen
