    Jbl eon (help)

Would it be a good idea to buy 2 used JBL Eon 315 from Guitar Center for $239 each? and are these 2 speakers loud enough for a gig with roughly 200 people?

Are you playing background music for a private party or dance music for a club. If it's dance music, then the answer is "no way." Are you sure about the crowd size? Most people tend to over estimate a crowd or room size, 200 would require a very big room unless people were just standing shoulder-to-shoulder.

Never been a fan of the sound of Eons and I think, generally, lower end JBL stuff is really just JBL-branded Chinese kit that's no better than what Behringer provides for less money. I doubt they could take enough power to fill such a room and two would struggle to give you coverage even if they could take 1000W of power. Then there's the subs that you would want and didn't mention.

Bottom line: you're asking very little to do a whole lot.

A little late to the party, but...

We have five sets of the older EON 10 loudspeakers and a pair of the EON 15s. We use them in school auditoriums, conference rooms, and even hotel ballrooms (to save money) and we've used the 15s on numerous occasions in large rooms with 180 adults and 50 kids no problem. When the kids perform, we add one pair of 10s in the back of the room.

Usually a single 10 is plenty for a meeting room that holds 40 people, though if they're going to dance, two are better.

    BTW, stands are imperative.
    I like sulung tang.
