    Yaqin 22B Phono preamp

    Yaqin 22B Phono preamp...

Well, I bought one of these and while there were somethings I liked about it, It wasn't a major upgrade, more of a lateral move. So... I found the plans for a revamp of this unit and let me tell you, the results are spectacular! Basically, the amount of detail and resolution increase was not in any way subtle.

Rather than say any more, here is a link to where I found it. Follow Hi-Q's thread. He is the one who made the new design. Yaqin MS-22b Phono Amp - Page 5 - diyAudio

    Here are the plans: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/lez/Yaq...n%20MS-22B.pdf

Hi-Q is more than willing to speak to anyone about this. He is a great guy.

I will tell you this... Doing this upgrade will require many components being pulled from the board, printed circuit traces being cut, and many new components being installed. It is a complete revamp. I haven't soldered much for over 30 years, but I was able to perform this surgery. Therefore, I believe anyone can do it. It is definite worth doing. IMO You have a choice of using a MOSFET for a buffer or adding a third tube. I opted for the latter.

One more thing... This upgrade only cost about $50 or so in parts.
