    Yet another

Am very pleased to enjoy the resources available here. Perhaps I shall be able to add something of value, too, from time to time.

Might I continue/expand the premise of this thread a little?

My question is whether my Cerwin-Vega E-76C center channel would work well with the JBL speakers identified below?

    Cerwin-Vega specs are:
    6.5 inch Dual 2-way
    1.25 inch balanced dome tweeters
    Self-resetting PTC protection
    Low diffraction baffle cabinet design
    Tuned bass-reflex design
    50 Hz-20 kHz
    125W
    92 dB
    8 ohm-compatible

Specifically, my son has a pair of JBL HP88f front speakers, and a pair of and a pair of JBL Northridge E-20s as surrounds.

    Specs for JBL HP88f are:
    • Nominal Impedance: 8 ohm
    • Max Amp Power: 250W
    • Frequency Range: 40 Hz – 22 kHz (-6 dB)
    • Sensitivity: 93 dB SPL, 1 Watt @ 1 Meter
    • Crossover Frequencies: 850 Hz, 3000Hz

Specs for JBL Northridge E-20 are:
    8 inch, 2-way System
60 Hz to 16 kHz frequency range (-10 dB)
Recommended Power Amplifier Range: 10 Watts - 150 Watts
    92 dB sensitivity (1W/1m)
    8 ohms nominal impedance
    2.8 kHz crossover frequency

Hope this posting/request is not out of line for a newbie 1st! Regardless, thank you.

You can use the CV center no problem. The optimum is to have matching brand and model center and mains for timbre matching for seamless panning of sound effects but other than that, no problem.

It is good etiquette in the future to post your questions in a new thread. For instance, yours would have gone either in Home Theater or possibly Speakers, then click "new thread". Welcome

Thanks, Mr. Peabody. Am glad to know about the speakers, and that I might even post a new thread right away.

Am a little west of STL myself, as in Weldon Spring. Sad about the Cards!
