    August Movie Previews

    Ranked by release date:

The Smurfs 2: The evil wizard Gargamel creates a couple of mischievous Smurf-like creatures called the Naughties that he hopes will let him harness the all-powerful, magical Smurf-essence.

2 Guns: Working undercover as members of a narcotics syndicate, each man distrusts his partner as much as the criminals they have both been tasked to take down.

Top Cat, The Movie: Top Cat, along with his gang of city-slickin’ fast-talking friends and their alley shenanigans -- Benny the Ball, Fancy Fancy, Choo Choo, Spook and Brains -- have to face a new sheriff.

Percy Jackson, Sea of Monsters: Percy Jackson, the son of Poseidon, continues his epic journey to fulfill his destiny, as he teams with his demigod friends to retrieve the Golden Fleece, which has the power to save their home and training ground,

Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox: When time travel allows a past wrong to be righted for The Flash and his family, the ripples of the event prove disastrous as a fractured, alternate reality now exists where a Justice League never formed, and even Superman is nowhere to be found.

Elysium: Set in the year 2154, where the very wealthy live on a man-made space station while the rest of the population resides on a ruined Earth, a man takes on a mission that could bring equality to the polarized worlds.

We're the Millers: A veteran pot dealer creates a fake family as part of his plan to move a huge shipment of weed into the U.S. from Mexico.

Kick-Ass 2: After Kick-Ass' insane bravery inspires a new wave of self-made masked crusaders, led by the badass Colonel Stars and Stripes (Jim Carrey), our hero joins them on patrol.

Paranoia: In this high-stakes thriller, Adam Cassidy is a regular guy trying to get ahead in his entry-level job at Wyatt Corporation.

The Frozen Ground: An Alaska State Trooper partners with a young woman who escaped the clutches of serial killer Robert Hansen to bring the murderer to justice. Based on actual events.

    Thanks for the update, Smokey.

2 Guns looks potentially entertaining and I like the Elysium theme. Most of the rest are kid flicks.

Elysium sounds like a slightly hyperbolic projection of the real-world trend to wealth concentration and the real consequence that will follow from it.

    Thanks Feanor

Elysium does seem like an interesting movie set in the future. Also seen the trailor for Paranoia with Gary Oldman (my favorite actor) and Harrison Ford and that might be interesting film also.
